Helpful, but the price tag is a little ridiculous

I used this book to study for my HESI A2 test in Illinois. First and foremost, I'll say I LOVE this book. It prepared me well. However, it is a little flimsy for a $40+ price tag. The math section prepares you well, as does the grammar and vocab sections (vocabulary in this book was 100%, exactly what I found on the exam.) A&P could cover a little more, as could Biology. Biology went over mitosis and meiosis, but rather unclear and it didn't call the phases what it asks for on the exam, so learn those from another source (G1, etc.) A&P I supplemented with flash cards from quizlet. Don't be afraid to ask things that aren't in the book. Go online and find the answers. This book gives you the vague overview of what would be on the exam, and it's up to you to fill in the more detailed bits...which is ridiculous. If I'm paying the price of a cheapish textbook ($60 with expedited shipping and it still took two days??) the least it could do was provide more information. The tests, I really enjoyed. It did contain chemistry and physics sections, but I didn't need those. Reading comp was a little wimpy. Honestly, what helped me even more was the android app "HESI A2 Exam Prep" By Pocket Prep, Inc. It's free, although you can unlock a full version for $12 or $13, I don't remember, and the practice tests are awesome. I was terrified to take the HESI and I ended up passing with a 95% composite score. The best thing you can actually do is get this book, get the app, and make sure to take some peppermints and earplugs with you because the clicky-clack of other people pressing mouses and computer keys WILL get on your nerves.

Great for a quick review to help you prepare for HESI A2

I purchased this book because it was recommended as a study guide to help prepare me for the HESI A2 exam in Texas. It contains mathematics, reading comprehension, vocabulary (basic medical terminology), grammer, biology, chemistry, anatomy and phsiology, and physics. I found out that I will not be needing the chemistry or physics sections of the book, the HESI A2 in texas does not include those parts in the exam. It may be different for other states so always double check with your advisor. I did notice that some of the questions come off a little misleading and contain two possible answers. For example, one question in the biology section was: Which organelle would you expect to be present in a cell for detoxifying molecules? It offers multiple answers , two of them being smooth endoplastic reticulum and lysosome. The Book only explains that smooth ER detoxifies molecules and that lysosomes are responsible for intercellular digestion, which are both true but lysosomes also detoxify. Just little details like that. Other than that, the book is good. It is a little pricey and you can probably find free practice exams online. I purchases this because I've been out of college for a couple of years and needed a crash course guide to cram in two weeks and so far it has helped.

Outstanding Guide

This guide helped me tremendously! It does not cover all topics in detail (would be hundreds and hundreds of pages long), but it is an amazing refresher. A lot of the questions (if not all) in the HESI were covered in this book. I strongly recommend it!!! I passed all sections with 94 and above!

If you liked/loved Chuck then this is a good read.

This is a great way to revisit the series and look into the emotional struggles of the characters. Mainly about Chuck and Sara's journey it does touch on the other characters journeys as well, save Jeffster. I do wish that there had been more about them, however, maybe it was poetic that there wasn't more as this book deals with the emotional arch types found in the series. Not sure that Jeffster quite fits. As a Chuck fan I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to any Chuck fan, but I would recommend rewatching the series first. I know that I'm going to start the series over as it reminded me of how much fun it was the first time, and I will watch with a more critical eye this time.

I recommend this book for anybody who is intrigued with "Chuck"! It covers all five seasons and a wide variety of topics. This is definitely written for those looking for in-depth analysis. The author describes the themes in the series that really add depth and meaning to the overall story. Plus, the author substantiates all his points with specific details in the text. The book is so insightful that I wondered if the author was related to one of the writers of the show who gave him the inside scoop. I'd love to hear what others think.

Mildly interesting if you're fascinated by anything Chuck related. But there's a lot of gratuitous stretching. Author is a high school English teacher and in places you kind of feel like you're back in high school. I haven't been able to finish it, despite my enthusiasm for the show,

This book is a fascinating tour of what happens in a typical amp, especially under dynamic overdrive conditions, i.e. when it is hit with signal bursts, not just steady, bench-test sine waves. It's almost a picture tutorial book, showing you with oscillograms (mostly) how signals clip, compress, block (or not), and recover as they pass through various overdriven stages. There are some computer simulations, but mainly they and real measurements of real test circuits, including some beautiful examples of how transfer functions shift and bend during overdrive.

Everything is explained from the ground up, beiginning with a simple diode analogy, which leads onto the overdriven valve grid, and even pentode and cascode screen compression effects. It's not really a circuit deisgn book, it's more a concept book or even a lecture course, designed to give you a penetrating insight into the dynamic behaviour of overdriven circuits. Even so, it does present an alternative topology for getting overdrive with relative freedom from blocking distortion, while still allowing the dynamic, compressive effects to be tuned to taste -the Low Impedance Overdrive, or LIO concept.

It makes an excellent accompanyment to more conventional amp design/analysis books. It is somewhat academic and prosaic at times, and some of the images could do with annotation to reduce the effort of swapping back and forther between text and pictures, but these are small criticisms. If you value design and engineering know-how above mojo and mods, then this book is a well of wisdom.

This is the only book that specifically covers guitar amplifier overdrive. Some of it was over my head but I still learned a ton and now feel like I have a pretty good idea of what happens when a preamp or power tube is overdriven. If you want to understand guitar tube amps you need this book.

About the Author
As an archaeological anthropologist, Fowles has long-term research interests in the landscape, material culture, and local communities of northern New Mexico. His work draws upon the remarkable archaeology and rich cultural diversity in this region (1) to develop new accounts of the pre-Columbian, colonial, and modern histories of the American Southwest and (2) to intervene in a series of broader intellectual debates regarding premodern religion, non-state political action, and the materiality of social life, generally conceived.

In several ways it supports the thesis of the book, GOD IS RED by Vine Deloria Jr. considered a classic by some experts on Native American Religions. AN ARCHAEOLOGY OF DOINGS is not an easy book to read. One may have to read each chapter twice to get the message. However, the effort will pay of.
